What if I can't cope with the workload?
Speak to your tutor. They are there to help you and extensions on time can be
readily applied for. We realise that often events can overtake even the most
dedicated student especially if there other personal factors to be considered.
What if I live in a remote area?
This does not matter. The course is designed to be done by distance learning at
a comfortable but dedicated pace. That said where you live may have an effect
on your employment prospects. You should note that you will be required to
attend a live one day role-play assessment. To minimise disruption this usually
takes place on a weekend at a London venue. A buffet lunch is provided.
What if I fail?
You are entitled to a free re-sit of any one module.
The course is not designed to let you fail, it is designed to help you understand
the relevant areas of law and to apply them. Most of this will be apparent from
your supplied study materials but you will also be appointed a dedicated tutor to
assist and guide you.
Will I be able to find a job?
There is no guarantee of certain employment in any field.
What we can say with some confidence is that in our opinion, due to sweeping
reforms, there has never been a better time to consider a paralegal career.
Paralegals are fee earners who cost a law practice a fraction of what a fully
qualified solicitor would charge.
There are also easy self-employment routes in a growing market.
What if I can't afford the fees?
We may able to able to remit some of the fees in certain circumstances. You
should speak to our bursary staff to see if they can help.
You can also spread your fees over the period of the course and pay only as you
receive each module. Again speak to our bursary staff.
What if I haven't got my own computer?
It is not strictly necessary as your study materials may be supplied in different
formats and your tutor can be accessed by telephone as well as on line.
Many local libraries can also provide computer access for limited or no charge.
